Series: Sinners of Saints #0.5
Author: L.J Shen
Genre: Contemporary Romance

My name is Melody Greene, and I have a confession to make.
I slept with my student, a senior in high school.
I had multiple orgasms.
In multiple positions.
I slept with my student and I enjoyed it.
I slept with my student and I’d do it all over again if I could turn back time.
My name is Melody Greene, and I got kicked out of my position as a teacher and did my walk of shame a la Cersei Lannister from the principal’s office, minutes after said principal threatened to call the cops on me.
My name is Melody Greene, and I did something bad because it made me feel good.
Here is why it was totally worth it.
Defy is a smutty, insta-love, insta-lust short novella. Defy is a prequel to Vicious (Sinners of Saint #1). It is recommended, but unnecessary, to read Defy before reading Vicious.

I love nothing more than a student/teacher romance, and when a book with that theme is written by L.J. Shen, everything else gets put on hold until I reach the end.
I fell in instant love with Defy, which wasn’t surprising seeing as I did the exact thing whilst reading Vicious. Sinners of Saint has become my new favourite series/addiction, and I am foaming at the mouth for my next fix.
Defy was previously released in a boxset named Hot for Teacher, before Vicious was released. Now it is recommended to read Defy first, due to spoilers, but it is not imperative. I read Vicious first and it didn’t spoil Defy for me at all. I knew what to expect and still thoroughly enjoyed it.
Author’s note: Defy is a smutty, insta-love, insta-lust short novella. Defy is a prequel to Vicious (Sinners of Saint #1). It is recommended, but unnecessary, to read Defy before reading Vicious.
I don’t usually go for novellas because I’m greedy and always want more, but I could not for the life of me pass this one up. I was desperate to know more about Jaime and Melody and how their relationship from student/teacher to happily married came about.
A bit about the book: Melody Greene has hit rock bottom. Twenty-six, a dream of being a ballerina until she damaged her leg. Working at a job she hates with a boss who can’t stand her. And now she’s just been told by her landlord that he wants her out, what else could go wrong? Jaime Followhill. The son of her boss/headmistress at All Saints High. He has his sights set on her and he won’t let a small detail like, being his literature teacher stand in his way. Jaime isn’t shy about voicing his intentions and it soon becomes clear that Ms. Greene isn’t fully immune to his charms.
“Then act like you fucking want it,” he growled, grazing my shoulder with his teeth. “Don’t stand me up. Don’t give me shit when I’m ten minutes late, and don’t try and act like you don’t want this.”
Defy was short and scorching and I loved every single second. There was some serious chemistry between these characters and the intensity was thrilling. Jaime and Melody were fun together and although their circumstances were taboo, it didn’t feel wrong.
Jaime: So lost. So confused. So fucking mine. Owning someone has never felt this good.
I could have happily read more and yet it seemed like just enough. L.J. Shen has soon become a favourite of mine, and I can safely say I will read anything and everything this lady throws at me.
Sinners of Saint is an amazing series so far, which I highly recommend to my followers. I am chomping at the bit for the next instalment, that cannot come soon enough!!
